Patricio is a married father of three who is saving to replace the wooden plank walls of his home with cement blocks. The new walls will help protect his family from the cold mountain air.
Imelda owns and operates a microbusiness in her community and works as a farmhand to help support her parents. She is saving to increase the variety of basic products in her shop to meet the requests of her customers.
Juan Pablo is a farmhand and his wife is a homemaker. He is saving to help his sister, who is in her sixth semester of preparatory school, continue studying. Since he is the oldest, he supports her so she doesn't have to quit school.
UPDATE
When Juan Pablo received his savings match in April 2009, he paid fees for his sister's secondary school education. He said he feels very good to know that he's helping his sister with her studies, and he is very grateful to have been able to do so with the help of the program.
Guadalupe is a housewife and mother to four children: Julieta, José, Jesús and Marisol. Marisol, a child with special needs, receives therapy in Córdoba, a two-hour trip from home. Guadalupe's savings will help Marisol continue her therapy.
